Back to Basics in November

Posted By GraphicBass

The Metro Jazz Club is going back to basics with our next appearance at Swing Night at the Aurora Theater on November 7, at 8 p.m. We’ll be back on stage in a new setting, leaving plenty of room for dancing, as we bring out an all-swing concert that will get your out of those comfortable seats and onto the stage with us, dancing your, er, dinner off!

The Club will cover many of the old favorites, but also has more than a few rollicking new swing standards up it musical sleeve, in addition to more new beautiful ballads by Maxine Cummins for you to swoon over.

Make your reservations now for Saturday night, as this concert always sells out!

Last-Minute Corporate Gig a Success

Posted By GraphicBass

The Metro Jazz Club on Saturday, October 24, answered an emergencv call for a big band to entertain attendees at the Cobb Arts Ball for the United Arts of Cobb, when the previously-booked band was unable to play. The Cobb Arts Ball is the annual fund-raising recognition dinner for corporate donors in Cobb County who support arts organizations, such as the Cobb Symphony Orchestra, Telltale Theatre, Pandean Players, Theatre in the Square, The Georgia Ballet and the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art. Executives from the donor companies and the arts organizations were there to recognize and be recognized with a catered dinner, dance and casino night — with Big Band entertainment by the Metro Jazz Club.

One of our longest engagements to date with 38 tunes rolled out to an appreciative audience of more than 300 guests. From the time the first dessert was finished, to after the last hand of cards was played, dancers crowded the floor. The Ball organizer pronounced the music to be “perfect”.

Mounted on a large stage with dramatic lighting and elegant table settings, and with formal attire of band and guests contributing to the glamor of the evening, it was a long, but satisfying night of music for all. We all enjoyed playing for these good folks, and hope to be invited back next year.

If you need a reliable and quality big band for your next event, large or small, remember that the Metro Jazz Club came through at the last minute for one of the most important arts functions of the year!
